Bye bye blue!
I shaved it tonight!!! I couldn’t take it anymore! Last Saturday night – actually in the wee hours of Sunday morning – my hair announced its departure. It literally woke me up, feeling tingly and strange, and I just knew that was it. I had expected my hair would shed gradually; but when I got… Continue reading Bye bye blue!
Why, yes, my hair IS blue!
Yesterday was my first day back in the office since leaving for London … in other words, since dying my hair blue over three weeks ago! Everything went fine, in fact it was a quiet day; several of the folks on my team are on travel. I realized shortly after arriving that the blue hair… Continue reading Why, yes, my hair IS blue!
OK I’M AWAKE!!!
And then, overnight, like nothing happened, I was fine! I woke up early on Wednesday morning (Day 9) feeling totally normal. I had decided the day before to go to my early morning yoga class, which I have not been to since before London. I got up on time and went to class. During class… Continue reading OK I’M AWAKE!!!
Are we having fun yet?
Post-chemo life hobbles on. It’s pretty sucky, I don’t recommend it… My narcolepsy has eased, and been replaced by stomach issues. Not so much straight nausea – they’ve given me pretty good meds for that. But other GI issues have reared their head (hah!). I’ve asked if any of the meds I’m taking might be… Continue reading Are we having fun yet?
Sleep-gasm
I last wrote on “Day 2” of my first chemo cycle and here we are on “Day 5.” I have no idea what happened. I think I’ve been asleep the whole time. My week progressed pretty much as Chemo 101 had predicted, with Day 4 (Friday) being the worst. Overall I would say I just… Continue reading Sleep-gasm
Day 2 – And Oncology Clinic Video
During my first chemo yesterday I recorded a short video tour of the clinic but had technical difficulties uploading it that I fixed today. Sorry about the voice volume; I was talking softly to avoid bothering the other patients. Enjoy! In other news, I have survived Day 2 of Chemo round 1 quite well. I… Continue reading Day 2 – And Oncology Clinic Video
One Down, Five to Go!
Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, I became hazily half-awake from a not-unpleasant dream, about what I don’t remember. I shifted in my groggy sleep. Then suddenly, like a whoosh, came the thought: chemotherapy starts today. I read for a while, then tried to get back to sleep with no luck. Figuring if I’m wide awake… Continue reading One Down, Five to Go!
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!!!
I DID IT and it looks AWESOME!!! Ok, here’s the story. When I learned that I’d need chemo, I was told that my hair would fall out about two weeks after chemo started. As I processed this information my thoughts gradually evolved from disappointment that I’d be losing my hair after growing it out for… Continue reading Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!!!
Indignant
Not surprisingly, as a long-time employee at a Fortune 500 company, my health insurance is not bad. True, they made changes recently that were not for the better, but in general, as I’ve gone through this ordeal, I’ve not had to think too much about costs. I quickly hit my annual maximum out-of-pocket, and have… Continue reading Indignant
